Bags of Foreign Currencies Seized At Malam Aminu Kano Int. Airport

Bags filled up with different foreign currencies were seized on Thursday by Eagle eyes security personnel allegedly smuggled into Nigeria via Ethiopian Airline in Kano state.

According to media reports, the incident occurred at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport following the arrival of an Ethiopian Airline which landed at about 2pm local time. Shortly after it departed Kano, the suspicious bags were uncovered.

A source who pleaded concealment said that, “Some security personnel uncovered some suspicious luggage and upon checking, discovered different foreign currencies stashed in them”, according to The World News

According to the source, different currencies such as US Dollars, Euros, Pounds Sterling among others, were uncovered upon further checking of the luggage.

He further said that, at that time, heavy reinforcement of security was drafted to the scene of the incident and security started counting the money which took up to six hours to completion according to The Independent.

However, the total sum of the hard currency seized was not revealed by the source.
